Position Summary/Description:

The Executive Assistant (EA) provides executive level coordination and support to the Associate Vice Chancellor/Chief Diversity Officer (AVC/CDO) for Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), provides support to the Senior Director for Education Operations and Initiatives, and is responsible for administrative management of the unit. The EA facilitates a collaborative working environment between the AVC/CDO, D&I leadership team and all D&I staff. This position develops a clear and thorough understanding of the AVC/CDO’s priorities and expectations; executes responsibilities regarding AVC/CDO communication, scheduling, meeting coordination, travel coordination and coordinates the AVC/CDO’s presence and involvement in campus and community events. The EA provides primary support to the AVC/CDO and assists with the day-to-day operations and administration of the office. The position has the responsibility for scheduling meetings & appointments, managing travel itineraries, taking & preparing minutes, assisting in the preparation of reports & presentations, assisting with budget development & budget management for the unit, processing financial transactions, interpreting policies/guidelines and composing communications.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills:

Advanced Microsoft Office skills, strong organizational skills, professional demeanor, knowledge of University diversity policies and programs, effective communication skills, and ability to demonstrate acumen with handling sensitive and/or confidential information.

Preferred :

Graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with major emphasis in a related field; and 1 year of experience in providing administrative support to one or more senior executives in a fast-paced, complex office setting. Prior experience in an administrative capacity in a higher education and/or human resources setting.
