Full time physician (MD or DO) needed, with primary responsibility to support the life underwriting function in the area of medical risk evaluation. In alignment with corporate goals, specific responsibilities will include: 1) review underwriting cases/applications and provide medical opinions regarding morbidity and mortality risk, including cases involving complex medical history; 2) review and interpret medical tests; 3) provide underwriter training, development and skills assessment; 4) maintain current knowledge of medicine and industry underwriting practices to advance a competitive underwriting posture; 5) assist in selection and development of life underwriting manual guidelines; 6) work with other Medical Directors to optimally manage case referrals, while providing a consistent approach to impairment underwriting.
1) Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) along with currently active medical license in state of residence or practice. 2) Four or more years of clinical practice and/or insurance medicine experience. 3) Board certification in clinical specialty (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine preferred) and/or Insurance Medicine.
4) Strong communication and decision-making skills. 5) Familiarity and ability to work with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
