Coordinates and supports laboratory testing, product disposition, method validations, and prepares Laboratory/validation reports.

Position Description

The Sr. Project Engineer is responsible for leading design and installation projects, commissioning new production units, monitoring development (e.g., modifications and upgrades) and troubleshooting existing processes. Leads project team to meet operational, technical, budget and schedule goals and serves as the Project Lead for the design of single equipment line installations, purchase of new equipment, and process improvements.

Main Areas of Responsibilities

  • Develops detailed project elements for scope, schedule, and cost

  • Prepares cost, feasibility, and capital cost estimates and justifications

  • Supports the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations

  • Implement new equipment and modifications

  • Provide training to staff on use or maintenance of equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

  • Support validation efforts in the development of validation strategies and testing plans.

  • Support the Change Control process for all validated systems

The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:

  • Strong Project Management / Leadership track record. Experience 3-5 years or more.

  • Working knowledge of MS Project is a must

  • Experience in writing of justification for project capital appropriation requests and management of project budgets (preferably in excess of $5MM)

  • BS/MS in Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Aseptic process knowledge and experience.

  • Packaging process knowledge and experience.

  • General pharmaceutical operations knowledge and experience.

  • Experience in writing user and design specifications in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Experience with process automation systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, B&R)

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects to completion on time and within budget.

  • Strong technical understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and Good Engineering Practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate options to resolve problems, prioritize solutions, determine appropriate course of action, gain consensus on that recommendation, and implement the decision.

  • Understanding of automated equipment and processes, ability to integrate technology to support operational goals with the input and agreement of the process/equipment owners.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to perform as a member of cross-functional work teams.

  • Ability to work and interact with peers, vendors, various personnel in scientific, engineering, QA, Validation, and operational disciplines.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
