Verizon Wireless Product Manager - IoT Platform in Waltham, Massachusetts


The Product Manager is responsible for driving the accelerated adoption of the IoT Platform/ThingSpace product portfolio against budget. The position must manage the product technology and marketing strategy through the analysis of addressable market, customer needs, maintenance of competitive insight, and active awareness of industry trends. The Product Manager will work cross-functionally with razor-sharp priorities to develop impactful and innovative revenue-generating products and services by driving product ideation, product requirements, value proposition, prudent business cases, and solid go-to-market strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Product Management: The Product Manager is responsible for driving the accelerated adoption of IoT platform product portfolio by maintaining 12-24 month roadmap for product portfolio. The person will develop innovative, revenue-generating new product and services ideas; will rationalize investments; get buy-in from senior leadership; and execute on the plans to realize products and services by collaborating with Technology Product/IT/Network teams. The person will be measured against the product performance metrics. Product/Services focus will be on horizontal IoT/M2M Platform (e.g. SIM Supply-Chain strategy, device management, IoT Vertical enablers, etc.).

  • Customer Engagement and Market Insight: The Product Manager must manage the product marketing strategy through the analysis of customer use cases from the horizontal as well as industry vertical perspectives, understanding of the competitive landscape, and deep awareness of market trends. The individual will engage with the customers through Sales channels and be an advocate of Verizon’s product offerings in the IoT/M2M space, as well as, deeply engage to understand individual customer use cases in order to funnel ideas into product roadmap.

  • Facilitate productive and cross-functional relationships via effective and consistent communication: The Product Manager will play the internal evangelist role for the product/services area of focus. The person will interact with organizations, such as, HQ Product Technology, IT, Network, Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Sales Operations, Solutions Engineering, Vertical Product teams, Legal, Finance, and various other technical and non-technical organizations, and build consensus in order to execute and bring new product/services ideas to market.


Education: BA/BS; MS/MBA preferred or equivalent work experience


Experience in a technology product management role:

  • Strong product management skills to execute product or services initiatives, moving them from inception to launch to life-cycle management

  • Proven ability to think independently and strategically, and manage product management/development process

  • Experienced with product ideation process for new, innovative products or services by collaborating with cross-functional experts

  • Experience writing product marketing requirements, developing business cases, creating program forecasts, and developing go-to-market strategy

  • Ability to create use cases with a focus on delivering a quality customer experience

  • Ability to collect and analyze data to measure gaps, performances, and use of data for products/features ideation purposes

  • Experienced with Agile Development methodologies

  • Strong strategic skills to plan a 12-24 month roadmap for maximum customer growth and market penetration

  • Ability to manage multiple high-visibility, complex projects with razor-sharp priorities

  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing business conditions with sense of urgency

  • High technical aptitude in two or more of the following areas

  • Experience in defining user interfaces for successful large scale B2B or consumer systems with complex underlying architecture

  • Experience in cloud computing and enterprise application life cycle product management

  • Experience in wireless devices management product management

  • In-depth understanding of wireless and/or core network architecture, mobility, and business data flows

  • Experience in software engineering/development, software systems architecture/design

  • Working experience in data analytics technologies

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Strong capability to analyze business challenges and provide innovative solutions

  • Must be able to identify and escalate potential issues as well as implement recommended solutions

  • Ability to facilitate collaborative resolution of differences with a “win-win” approach

  • Proven cross-functional leadership and communication skills

  • Proven organizational and interpersonal skills, plus proven relationship building abilities

  • The ability to work on a team as well as take initiative independently

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including persuasive consensus-building skills
