Administrative Assistant - Government Affairs (Job Number: 010574W-01)


DuPont is currently looking for an Administrative Assistant for our Government Affairs office located in Washington, DC. The primary function is to provide administrative support to the government affairs team. Supports one or more members of management and/or staff in a business or functional unit. Work generally requires knowledge of company and/or business/functional practices, policies, programs and/or product line. Resolves routine and non-routine inquiries. Administrative responsibilities include calendaring, document preparation and management, correspondence, travel arrangements, and meeting/travel coordination. Maintains confidentiality.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The primary function is to provideadministrative support to members of the government affairs team and otheroffice members in Washington, DC.

  • Performs full range of advanced administrativeresponsibilities, including document preparation and management, telephoneduties, creating and submitting expense reports, calendaring, travelarrangements, meetings/conferences call arrangements, etc.

  • Knowledge of or interest in becoming proficientin understanding the federal government and activities on the Hill inorder to be a valued resource to the Government Affairs Team.

  • Provides logistical support as needed for eventswith plant site staff and staff of government officials

  • Responsible for contacting key internal companyand external personnel at all organization levels to gather and communicateneed-to-know information.

  • Responsible for briefing material preparationfor both internal and external communications.

  • Assist with creation/modification ofpresentations, spreadsheets, and other various documents to support outreachstrategy efforts and government affairs operations.

  • Maintain routine files and working knowledge ofimportant agency officials and knowing how to address correspondence togovernment agencies and/or officials.

  • Responsible for researching and monitoringcongressional on-line tools daily (Leadership Directory, CongressionalQuarterly and Congress Daily).

  • May be responsible for tracking and monitoringcongressional hearing with the use of both on-line tools and websites.

  • Serve as back up support foradministrative staff.


  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience working inan administrative role.

  • Self-starter who acts independently withminimum supervision and gets results.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitiveinformation and maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible andproactive in handling administrative tasks to meet challenging business needs.

  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated byactively developing a spirit of teamwork and cooperation when working withdiverse work groups and contributing to an enthusiastic, positive workclimate.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
