Washington State Computer Audit Specialist - Revenue Auditor 3 in Washington


This non-permanent opportunity is open to Department of Revenue employees only and is expected to last for 12 months

The location of this position will be determined based upon the current location of the successful candidate.

The Department of Revenue's Audit division has a unique opportunity in dual support of the Audit Program Support Unit (APS) and the Sampling and Electronic Data Analysis (SEDA) Unit. As a Computer Audit Specialist (CAS), you will use your skills of departmental business needs analysis an auditing knowledge to suggest process improvement and application changes. In addition, you will gain an impeccable advantage for growth because your efforts will be equally shared between these two teams.

Your responsibilities with APS consist of supporting other Computer Audit Specialists as a business analyst and mission critical programmer for agency specific software applications, such as, Audit 2000, MARIO, TATS and other Divisional reports and programs.

Your responsibilities with SEDA include consulting with the field audit staff regarding the retrieval and analysis of electrical data, development and evaluation of statistical sampling plans, and computer assisted audits. Additionally, you will communicate with internal and external customers in assisting with our DOR random and statistical sampling program.

Some more of what you will do:

  • Provide technical assistance to auditors.
  • Prepare and facilitate training with the Audit Division employees.
  • Assist in other programs to include ATLAS implementation and divisional intranet. Qualifications

We're looking for candidates who have the following:

Bachelor's degree with major study in accounting, or a Bachelor's degree in business administration or allied field which includes 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of college-level accounting (may include credits from one Business Law class).


A bachelor's or graduate degree and is CPA Exam eligible.


Two (2) years of experience as a Revenue Auditor 2, or four (4) years of professional accounting, tax compliance or tax examination experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A* *strong record of performance as a permanent RA2 or higher in the DOR.
