This position is that of a Family Medicine Physician assigned to the Naval Health Branch Clinic of the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA. This Family Practice Physician works collaboratively within a team of professionals dedicated to efficient, cost effective, quality patient care services. In this position, you will perform meaningful professional work in the field of Physician (Family Practice).

A typical day includes:

  • Provide a full range of family practice services, e.g., examine, diagnose and treatment of patients from birth to death for a panel of 1300 patients;

  • Prescribe and dispense medications;

  • Promote preventative and health maintenance care including annual physicals, positive health care behaviors through education and counseling;

  • Maintain active, ongoing outpatient clinic schedule;

  • Actively involved in the Patient Safety and performance improvement programs.

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards:

  • Degree: MD or DO from accredited school in the United States or Canada. Is your medical degree from a foreign medical school? If yes, then you must have a permanent ECFMG or Fifth Pathway Certificate. Please make sure your application includes a photocopy of your ECFMG or Fifth Pathway Certificate and number including the date awarded.

  • License: Active, valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

  • Graduate Training/Experience: At least 5 years of residency training or equivalent experience and training in Family Practice (i.e., 3 year residency and 2 year fellowship and/or experience). Your resume must indicate you have sufficient expertise in Family Practice to perform the core privileges of this position at the GP-15 level. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: examining, diagnosing, and developing and managing patient treatment plans for pediatric to geriatric patients; determining the need for consultation with other specialists; prescribing and dispensing medications; and evaluating the quality of care provided to patients and identifying opportunities to improve care.

Satisfy*BUMEDs clinical privileges requirements* which, in addition to the above, includes the following:

  • Completion of a Family Practice residency approved by the American specialty board or AOA, board certification in Family Practice, or board eligible in Family Practice.
  • Current clinical competence (e.g., privileged to independently practice Family Practice within the past 2 years, actively practiced Family Practice within the past 2 years by having encountered a sufficient number of clinical cases to represent a broad spectrum of the privileges required).

  • No health status contraindications to granting clinical privileges.

  • Board certification is desired, but not required.
