Responsibilities

The Director of Product Marketing for Cloud & IT solutions leads the team responsible for the positioning, messaging, go-to-market strategy, and enablement of Iron Mountain’s strategic offerings. In this role, you will direct the activity that enables the achievement of revenue targets across North America, Western Europe, and other developed markets. As a senior marketing leader, you will partner closely with Iron Mountain’s business unit GM, and be on point to represent and orchestrate the marketing function, including Demand Generation, Communications, Digital, and Content marketing.

Roles/Responsibilities:

This position requires strategic leadership, execution excellence, strong cross-group collaboration, outstanding communications, a global mindset, strong research and analysis skills and an ability to lead numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should be customer/competitive focused, have a proven track record in driving successful end-to-end launches, and passionate about products and solutions. You excel at leading and collaborating across multiple marketing disciplines to drive a holistic, end-end marketing strategy and execution plan. Candidates should be experienced in go-to-market strategies for complex technology-based solutions targeted for the CIO/Director of IT Infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Connecting Vision to Strategy and Execution Priorities: Translates vision into a plan with clear tradeoffs, detailed milestones, and resource alignment. Incorporates business and product objectives, market opportunities and offerings into cohesive marketing plans across targeted segments and geographies (North America and Western Europe).

  • Customer Focus & Segmentation: Listens to the market trends and direct market research to express direction and priorities. Puts the customer and the user at the center of our strategy, and champions the customer in our go to market. Develops relevant buyer personas and buying center content.

  • Go to Market: Builds the go-to-market plan by working closely with the Demand Generation team, and oversees the day-to-day implementation - translating into on-time, on-budget execution. Defines marketing strategies to support the business’ strategies with respect to segments, positioning, and penetration. Oversees launch planning for new offerings that incorporates products, solutions and services where applicable. Develops and executes a strategic and tactical plan across all stages of the buyer’s journey.

  • Positioning and Messaging: Directs collaboration among/between business units around common and aligned messaging and offering development. Defines winning value propositions for our offers. Creates unique positioning and effective messaging that is rooted in research, data and customer input – with a strong understanding of Cloud and IT-based services. Plans and organizes relevant functional departments (eg: product development, branding, communications etc.), and ensures they project the business’ unique “voice” as part of an aligned messaging strategy.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaises with other functions to guide a unified approach to demand generation, communcations, sales engagement/enablement, content marketing, and brand that meets growth expectations and ambitions for deepened customer relationships. Designs and coordinates promotional campaigns, PR and other marketing efforts across channels (digital, press, partners, account management teams, etc.)

  • Strong Communication: Succinctly and effectively communicates to internal and external audiences. Implements an effective communication strategy for efficiently equipping and enabling channels including channel partners, account management teams, and sales professionals. Communicates effectively with senior executives and is able to engage with press and analyst as appropriate.

  • Delivers strong oral and written communication to help craft messaging and content.

  • Leadership: Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to guide the direct reports. Creates a highly efficient team of marketing professionals that can direct work across multiple disciplines. Establishes priorities and develop growth programs for staff. Hires, retains and develops top talent through coaching and directive feedback. Manages performance and identifies gaps and remediation steps

  • Enablement: Collaborates with Sales Enablement to develop/maintain competitive playbooks and industry playbooks that are effective in equipping salesforce in generating demand, closing new business, and protecting margins.Reporting & Metrics: Formalizes processes, measurement tools and reporting to manage results; Assess the go-to-market processes & address gaps in performance to deliver and exceed against marketing KPIs and revenue targets for relevant markets and regions.

  • Tracks and measures program effectiveness. Creates a solid network of strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders for sustaining adequate opportunity pipeline and closed-loop management for marketing-generated leads/opportunities

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Responsible for the developing and managing the annual departmental budget, including any business case presentations and metrics.

  • Competitive Strategy: Drives competitive strategy. Analyzes performance including win/loss analysis, concepts for new solutions, and competitive offerings in conjunction with customer data to determine new solution concepts & take to market strategies. Utilizes market/competitive intelligence assets to direct prospecting and enable differentiation in our go-to-market initiatives.

  • Future Product: Plays a leadership role in influencing future products, solutions & bundled offerings based on market research and new market trends for all applicable markets and regions.

Qualifications

• 10 to 15 years of professional experience motivating and leading a diverse and distributed marketing team; global experience is a plus

• Subject matter knowledge in IT Infrastructure, Cloud

• Advanced experience with product marketing, product line or business unit management strongly preferred

• Demonstrated experience in working with and/or leading marketing functions including demand generation, content marketing, PR/AR, and digital marketing strongly preferred

• Formal leadership experience overseeing a complex marketing budget

• Demonstrated success influencing C-level executives and cross-functional leaders

• Strong background in analytics, measurements and dashboards

• Demonstrated skills in messaging and positioning offerings with the ability to communicate product and business line value differentiators

• Experience developing thought leadership to enhance a company’s reputation in terms of expertise and innovation

Education • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in business, marketing or related field; MBA strongly preferred
