We are currently seeking a motivated professional to serve as a lead network engineer/analyst to support technically diverse and challenging systems that are constantly evolving as the technology landscape changes. Your role will be essential to the support, design, management, and delivery of these mission-critical solutions.

POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Lead Network Engineer will lead and support the quality assurance and software development groups of a large multi-disciplinary team of engineering professionals that are helping solve the most critical cyber challenges for the United States Government.The candidate will implement and improve upon a variety of tasks related to supporting the technical execution and quality assurance validation of a high-visibility program. The candidate will be relied upon for their detail-oriented approach towards accurately understanding the complex system.The ideal candidate thrives on being challenged.Overall, the candidate will become a key part of elevating the efficiency and performance of the entire growing team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

The Network Engineer must have extensive experience in the following areas:

Communication Protocols

  • Possess strong understanding and ability to learn various routing and switching protocols

  • Possess strong understanding and ability to learn various application layer protocols

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot network devices utilizing the command-line

IT Infrastructure

  • Support the building of various test beds

  • Ability to configure various services running on Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot applications hosted on Linux and Windows clients and servers

  • Ability to interconnect networks using mediums including copper, optical fiber, and wireless

Automation and Test

  • Understanding of virtualization technologies including VMware

  • Ability to write scripts to automate tasks such as installing and configuring a service

  • Perform test validation

  • Perform exploratory testing of software

Research and Training

  • Provide consultation to teams performing research

  • Provide consultation to teams performing training

  • Support customer interactions when performing training

Writing

  • Review user guides and test documents for accuracy and completeness

  • Support the editing / delivery of artifacts to the customer

  • Support diagramming and documentation of test beds

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field along with 10+ years of related work experience. Will consider work experience in lieu of a degree and certifications.

  • Good written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required

  • Strong working experience with cloud-based technology is required

  • Strong working experience with Windows and Linux operating systems is required

  • Strong background in scripting and networking is required

  • Candidate must meet eligibility requirements for a security clearance by the U.S. Government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment

  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required due to government or federal requirement.

  • U.S. citizens ONLY due to government or federal requirement.

  • Applicants selected for employment will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet additional eligibility requirements for access to classified information or materials.

Preferred

  • Experience with the following:

  • providing Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.

  • managing the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems

  • configuration and management of UNIX and Windows operating systems

  • optimizing system operations and resource utilization

  • providing support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
