Corporate Risk provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, this group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The Internal Loss Data system (ILD) is the key repository of operational loss data for Wells Fargo to assess and manage operational risk as well as to provide loss data for internal and external reporting. It is foundational for many of the modeling efforts in the company to quantify operational losses for multiple regulatory assessments, such as Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Basel Regulatory Capital (Advanced Management Approach – AMA). ILD data is also included in Regulatory reporting on a Quarterly basis. The future state of operational risk management for Wells Fargo & Co. is highly dependent on this team’s ability to successfully identify and implement timely solutions for the enhanced use of loss data for both predictive and risk management purposes.

  • Job Description:*

The Internal Loss Data (ILD) team within Operational Risk Management and Analysis (ORMA) is seeking a dynamic self-starter with the right mix of qualitative and analytics ability for a critical role as Analytic Consultant. As the ORMA team focuses its efforts beyond the quantification of Operational Risk to the management of Operational Risk and initiatives to enhance our operational risk framework, this position will be expected to understand the details and data structure of the current environment while having the ability to transform and guide all the data into information for decision making. The ideal candidate will be accountable for:

  • Impact Assessments regarding key data attributes incorporated in ILD future operating state (often referred to as “ILD 2.0”).

  • Exploring and defining business rules for Loss Data Enrichment attribute automation (also referred to as “prefilling” data values).

  • Take initiatives to leverage company and industry best practices relating to machine learning tools and apply the same to the ILD environment.

  • Validation of key data changes prior to production implementation.

  • Development and execution of advanced data variance analysis and reconciliations.

  • Execute quarterly dataset production for ORX & ORMQ; develop and implement future automation.

  • Execute and implement process improvements for production and second level review processes.

He/She will act as an internal consultant by using their understanding of the business needs to suggest re-engineering of procedural or technical process improvements to obtain greater efficiency and ensure production resiliency. The successful candidate may be assigned other data analytics & support functions based on the demand and at the manager’s discretion.

  • Location: Charlotte, NC is the preferred location. Other Wells Fargo footprints will be considered for well qualified candidates.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling

  • 4+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

  • Ability to translate complex technical needs into straightforward requests for information and collaboration, working with a wide range of people

  • Tableau experience

  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
