Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our nine major business lines include Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and the Investment Portfolio. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

We have an exciting opportunity in Wholesale Model Risk Management. The Model Risk team is responsible for working with key model risk stakeholders to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal model requirements. This position will have responsibility for working with the Wholesale Model Risk Program Manager in developing Wholesale’s Model Risk Management program. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a strong understanding of Model Risk Management Policy, supporting Standards, and supervisory regulations (e.g. SR 11-7, SR15-18) in order to act as an advisor for the Wholesale business in model risk management

  • Acting as a 1st line of defense: Oversee execution of policy requirements for derivatives models for the Wholesale businesses

  • Develop procedures, training sessions, or other materials to ensure stakeholders follow consistent procedures and are informed of actively changing requirements

  • Engage with various stakeholders in the model development teams, Corporate Model Risk (CMoR) independent model validation, as well as the model users/owners to ensure timely issue resolution, escalation, and management of approvals

  • Maintaining information in the Model Risk System (MoRS)

  • Assisting with projects and other ad-hoc initiatives

  • Additional responsibilities as needed

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, or capital markets

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Project management experience

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to utilize graphing, filters, and other reporting tools

  • Ability to play leadership role in large and complex analytical projects
