SCOPE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for working with plant operations, vendors, Corporate Purchasing and Accounts Payable to manage, monitor, plan and order raw materials and packaging supplies in accordance with plant production schedules and inventory requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:
Scheduling of Raw Materials and Packaging -- Analyze production plans and schedules daily to control and monitor the inbound flow of packaging and ingredients through the production process; Review and initiate action on factors that could affect schedule attainment due to unavailability of raw materials; Place orders; Process blanket purchase orders; and, Process new formulas or changes.
Finished Goods Scheduling -- Create and manage weekly finite plant schedules; Enter, update and maintain rolling plan of firm planned orders in BPCS; Monitor period beyond 2 months out for items that may be missing planned orders generated; Release shop orders in BPCS daily for the next day’s production; Assists Finance with problems with shop orders as needed; and, Conduct production meeting to update all departments of current production, soliciting changes to the schedule and upcoming production plans to maximize efficiency opportunities.
Materials Inventory Management – Monitor materials inventories to ensure complete availability of packaging supplies and ingredients; Maintain cost effective inventory levels and lead monthly physical inventories; Track booked vs. physical inventories, obsolete inventory and quality rejects; Monitor and take action to increase inventory turns and closely tracks safety stock levels, Manage obsolescence.
Vendor Maintenance – Work with Corporate Purchasing to source and establish vendor relationships; and, Work with Corporate Purchasing and vendors when contracts expire or require updates or revisions.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving -- Work with Corporate Purchasing and vendors to resolve discrepancies between invoice prices & negotiated prices, late or missed deliveries and other matters that interfere with on-time delivery; Communicate directly with vendors on routine and/or quality related matters; and, Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing and pricing issues.
Record Keeping & Reporting -- Maintain facility planning records and purchasing records, update pricing and contract parameters; Ensure raw material and packaging supply records and documents are kept current; and, Prepare and publish periodic reports.
Comply with all Purchasing and Accounting policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Operations Manager in support of improving overall plant and Supply Chain effectiveness.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two (2) years of Production Planning or Scheduling experience in a complex, fast paced manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of material planning concepts.
APICS Certification, preferred.
Experience working with a diverse group of people
Excellent analytical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Familiarity with financial management and reporting systems, such as BPCS.
Possesses good judgment and an ability to analyze data and information in order to make effective and timely decision
Ability to seek innovative approaches to resolving problems
Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization.

- BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Logistics, Production Planning, Industrial Distribution Management, or equivalent, preferred but not required
