The Senior Email Marketing Specialist will provide support to the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing in respect to email design, coding, and deployments and will design all outbound marketing and service emails that deploy from The Hartford. This position is also responsible for the HTML coding of the email, ensuring it adheres to email best practices and is within CAN-SPAM requirements. The position is tasked with evolving The Hartford’s email templates, ensuring they follow brand standards and are up-to-date with the latest HTML coding trends. This position also helps the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing with the development of the overall email strategy.

  • Email and Microsite Coding: Essential. Responsible for the coding of all marketing email templates and microsite pages for the Enterprise. Occasional form builds within the SalesForce Marketing Cloud may be required.

  • Email Design: Essential. Responsible for the design of emails, banner ads, and occasionally landing page forms in support of Enterprise initiatives.

  • Support for Assistant Director of Digital Marketing: Essential. Provide support with coding, design, and deploying of emails for the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing.

  • Analysis: Non-Essential. Log coding and design hours, as well as report out on stats for select campaigns in monthly MBR sessions.



  • 1-3 years’ experience designing and coding for email or websites.

  • HTML proficiency a must.

  • Expert within the SalesForce Marketing Cloud

  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, MovableInk or Email on Acid a plus.

  • Understanding of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Fast learner.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects at one time, work under pressure and within tight timelines.

  • Creative eye.
