The Research Investigator applies technical expertise and experience to plan, coordinate, design, and carry out research projects.
Impacts cancer research efforts throughout the institution.
The salary range min $ 46,000 mid $ 57,500 max $ 69,000
The ideal candidate will have prior expertise with Drosophila genetics and tissue repair research.
KeyFunctions
Assists principal investigator with scientific research projects.
Functions in a separate and independent manner in the design, initiation,
execution, and interpretation of research experiments.
- Designs, develops and/or adapts equipment used in experiments or research
to obtain interpretable data for aforementioned projects.
*Determines specific goals or objectives to be obtained, evaluates research
data and develops and revises techniques or approaches to work through any
technical or conceptual problems.
- Plans training and research work activity for assigned laboratory and research
personnel- this can include assisting in training of junior graduate students or
senior research personnel in new techniques.
- Supervises the proper and safe use of laboratory equipment and implements
lab safety procedures.
- Compiles, writes and submits project results to superiors for evaluation and
eventual publication.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.
Preferred: Prior expertise with Drosophila genetics and tissue repair research.
