Primary Function

The Robotics Technician will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing robots in good working order to maximize productivity. The incumbent must also be able to indirectly coordinate a team and maintain product flow through robotic weld cells, programs, robotic welding, and material handling.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot problems with robotic manufacturing equipment.

  • Support production on all robotic issues to maintain and achieve daily targets.

  • Support Engineering on larger projects.

  • Provide assistance in design, build, installation, and start-up of weld cells/fixtures.

  • Re-program and/or re-teach the robotic equipment, as necessary.

  • Provide operator training within the robotic weld cells.

  • Research and develop robotic improvements to enhance overall department efficiency.

  • Work with suppliers of automated/robotic equipment.

  • Provide leadership and technical support.

  • Assist in departmental measurable goals relating to customer concerns, cost of quality, cost savings, safety, and on-time delivery.

  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Fanuc ARC Mate and material handing program experience

  • ABB ARC Mate and material handling program experience

  • Well-developed technical communication skills, as well as strong and effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to supervise operators, contractors, and lead projects

  • A strong mechanical or electrical background

  • Knowledge of automation systems and robot/machine/Programmable Logic Controllers (PCL) communications

  • Short and Long term project management and planning skills

  • Experience with robotic seam tracking and robotic welding

  • Knowledge and experience with system integrating of vision systems to interact with robot software

Associate Degree
