Position Summary:

The Director of Digital Marketing is responsible for crafting digital marketing strategy and developing marketing campaigns with an emphasis of setting goals, developing metrics and identifying new audiences for Upromise. The Director will implement new and emerging digital technologies to identify, reach and convert leads into Upromise members. He/she will build and promote brand awareness, drive engagement and increase conversion through a variety of digital marketing techniques. The position is a key member of the Upromise Marketing team and is responsible for digital marketing strategy from concept to execution. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing and Product Management.

The position will work closely with many internal and external teams including but not limited to; creative agencies, product development, research, operations, legal, finance and technology and will maintain positive, productive relationships with external partners to continually innovate and optimize member acquisition campaigns that support our brand. The Director of Digital Marketing will provide strategic counsel and manage project timelines and budgets.

The Director of Digital Marketing is expected to interact with Senior Executives across the organization to ensure all the above is on track with organizational goals and expectations. The successful candidate for this position should enjoy working in fast paced, entrepreneurial environments, and have excellent communication and project management skills.

This position involves:

  • Developing and executing digital marketing strategies that align and support our brand
  • Executing interactive and engaging marketing campaigns
  • Identifying influencers and advocates in the digital/social media environment
  • Defining KPIs and measuring and analyzing digital /social media campaigns
  • Providing strategic recommendations based on research and social media listening

Key Responsibilities:

Digital Media Strategy - 30%

  • Lead the development of digital marketing strategy and plans. This includes execution of plans, evaluation mechanisms, timelines, engagement strategies, scheduling, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create digital marketing plans
  • Work independently to plan, manage and track assigned projects
  • Grow audiences and increase engagement across digital and social media channels
  • Develop and implement cross-functional campaigns
  • Create and manage content distribution across platforms
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies
  • Identify creative opportunities to leverage social platforms to extend brand messages
  • Strategic listening to identify opportunities, trends and issues
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and opportunities and provide guidance to stakeholders
  • Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adaption where appropriate

Digital Marketing Execution - 30%

  • Plan and execute all digital marketing across all channels including but not limited to; email, SEO/SEM, mobile, web, marketing database, social media and other appropriate channels
  • Work independently to plan, manage and track assigned projects
  • Design, build and maintain Upromise social media presence
  • Plan, execute and measure experiments and conversion tests

Digital Marketing Measurement - 20%

  • Develop KPIs, benchmarking and reporting for digital marketing campaigns
  • Measure, analyze and make recommendations on digital marketing campaign performance
  • Provide insights and recommendations in a strategic and thoughtful manner to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of marketing campaigns
  • Optimize marketing performance across channels

Leadership and Development - 20%

  • Manage the work of team members as appropriate; recognizing need for involvement of other teams/peers when necessary
  • Be a positive and motivating influencer and contributor
  • Cultivate positive relationships with Upromise and cross-functional teams
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Seek out professional development opportunities that enhance expertise and influence in your role

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communication or other related field and/or equivalent work experience

Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Digital Marketing or Communications, preferable in financial services or another highly regulated industry
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Have deep working knowledge of the digital and social ecosystem, including working relationships with social platforms and partners
  • Preferred experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven track record of growing social communities and increasing engagement
  • Expertise with Social Media Management Systems and Social Listening/Analytics tools
  • Proficient in excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, anticipate issues and work towards solutions
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data from marketing campaigns and provide insights and recommendations
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, creative agencies and executives
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members
  • Creative thinker with exceptional with strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
  • Ability to travel (may vary from 10 -- 20%)
