Course Description:English Composition:This course enhances and further develops the skills necessary for effective academic writing. Students will learn how to develop ideas to guide their research and to think critically when finding and using sources to write well-documented academic papers. Students learn how to use ideas from sources as evidence in essays and longer research papers. This course addresses research strategies, audience analysis, and bibliographic style, as well as organizational skills for writing the well-constructed, researched, and written college paper. In order to fulfill the College Composition requirement, students must achieve a minimum grade of 2.0 in the designated College Composition course.
A master's degree is required.
Professional experience in a related field is required.
Ability to work in a team oriented system, deal effectively with professional staff, other part-time faculty, adult and culturally diverse students.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, staff members and Faculty/Program Coordinator.
Ability to effectively present information in writing and orally to students, staff, faculty and university management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Online and internet experience and access required.
Experience using Blackboard Academic Suite with templated course content.
Experience in higher education setting with a diverse, global audience.
Instructional experience in research.
Demonstrated ability to provide a learning experience that links application with formal learning and adult learning theory.
Candidate must be able to teach online and face-to-face in alternate locations including Seattle, Everett, Renton, and international.
The Part-time Teaching Faculty salary is based on the level of course (graduate, undergraduate, doctoral) and the number of course credits (1-5).
