Currently, we are looking for a Senior Manager - Process and Development Operations to join the ABF Freight team. You would oversee facilitation and implementation of standard process and procedures, or any initiative related to the continuous improvement of ABF Freight’s P&D operation. This includes creating and managing an overall strategy that has both a short-term and long-term perspective across each of the functional areas within ArcBest.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Lead and direct any and all continuous improvement activities related to P&D operations

  • Direct efforts in data-driven root cause analysis (statistics) and solution development for adverse trends affecting P&D performance

  • Design, implement and maintain P&D applications - Inbound Planning, Mobile Dispatch, driver apps, etc.

  • Develop and maintain routing strategy that improves compliance while reducing miles and hours driving

  • Work with ABT to recommend hardware used by city drivers

  • Maintain and improve the P&D measurement systems and failure identification

  • Understand logic and rules for operational compliance and adjust if necessary

  • Oversee the process of maintaining optimum static routes for SC’s as freight levels change

  • Provide support for other engineering projects as needed

  • Collect and analyze data to identify areas of concern, and develop fact-based improvement activities

  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred. Focus in Industrial Engineering or equivalent, preferred

  • Graduate degree in Engineering, or MBA, preferred

  • Five years’ experience in operations research and optimization, preferred

  • Understanding of ABF Freight’s Quality Process

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, and SQL

  • Understanding of corporate goals and subsidiary relationships

  • Excellent management and leadership skills

  • Experience in simulation, forecasting, programming, optimization, and project management, preferred

  • Knowledge of LTL operations including both linehaul and service center operations
