SoftwareONE is looking for experienced and motivated technologists who possess a unique balance of technical depth, product management experience and business consulting skills. TheLead Architect for AWS Solutionsis responsible for the creation of highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud solutions through packaged services, product bundling and product development. Our solutions are designed and built to address customer business problems, while helping customers to accelerate cultural change through technology platforms. The role will be a key driver in the creation of new customer solutions.
The Solutions Architect will be responsible for the vision and strategy for the AWS technical practice and service development, including; analysis of customer requirements and pain points, the development of services and solutions aligned to the AWS platform, the build of service components, product bundling into solution packages, technical architecture, software development and integration, streamlining of development operations, implementation projects, defining profitable and repeatable solution stacks, defining the skills for services practices, defining managed services strategies for our services profitability, pre sales capabilities and outlining implementation architectures for applications and solutions running on AWS.
The role also serves as the liaison between the business, customers and professional services delivery resources which include both in-house and partner delivered services. The lead architect will be required to maintain a leading level of technical knowledge of AWS platforms and infrastructure to serve as the subject matter expert for that specific subject on a national and/or global scale.
Solutions Practice Summary:
The SoftwareONE Future Datacenter practice is focused on the creation and delivery of software centric datacenter solutions with an emphasis on public cloud, applications and security. The role will require cross solution level technical understanding and expertise across multiple platforms (primarily Windows & Linux), hybrid cloud (with a focus on management, Infrastructure, storage, operations, and automation), database (SQL, DB2, RDS, AURORA, ORCL, SAP), public cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Server-less) and development and development operations (DevOps, Agile, Process Automation). While there will be no limitations on the publishers and vendors that can be included in these practice solutions, foundational partners such as, but not limited to, Microsoft, AWS, Red Hat, Chef, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes will serve as foundational technologies within the stack. The practice will also include “emerging technology” solutions from emerging publishers and vendors that are finding traction in the broader marketplace and/or serve a specific niche solution. Future Datacenter is one of three global technology solutions practices that also include Future Workplace, and Business Networking & Security.

Technical Skills and Capabilities
Can identify applications and platforms impacted by a solution, the need for new platforms, and drive a platform selection.
Can evaluate emerging technologies and the evolution of current technologies to define a future vision roadmap for optimal application of technology to meet business needs.
Able to conduct Proof of Concept for feasibility studies.
Sales and Marketing
Responsible for partnering with sales teams and local sales leadership to understand customer challenges and market opportunities
Own Sales training activities including content creation, distribution and measurement of impact.
Prepares solutions for customers that include;
cost estimates for licensing and product sales as well as professional services (deployment, migration, implementation, workshops, etc.) by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents; consulting with other engineers, architects, practice leads and other professional and technical personnel (both internal and external).
Develop overall solutions blueprints including templates for;
Architecture diagrams, high and low level design (e.g.-Whiteboarding), statements of work (SOW), service design and bills of materials (BOM).
Manages sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
General Business Development, Marketing, & Partnerships
Develop relationships and act as liaison to local partners (VARs, publishers, distribution, etc.) to ensure available resources are being utilized where appropriate.
Act as a technical evangelist for marketing activities including speaking/presenter engagements at conferences, conventions, user groups, webinars, etc.
Partner with stakeholders and drive solution marketing activities by preparing and delivering content and messaging.
Able to communicate with large groups of diverse stakeholders to obtain consensus on target solution.
Travel required up to 50%.
Maintain and report on regional service delivery, sales pipeline, and project status.
Maintain and acquire advanced level technical certification in assigned area and maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Web Services development/deployment experience, cloud computing
Intermediate/advanced knowledge of the AWS services
Leading level Partner Sales and Technical Certifications with AWS
Minimum of 7-10 years enterprise IT application experience that includes at least 2 years of hands-on software development, DevOps engineering, systems administration, or systems architecture
Experience with hybrid cloud environments
Web site/services operations, management, and security experience
Must-have: product management background, practice ownership and build experience
University degree preferred (in the field of Information Technology and/or or equivalent combination of experience and education; Master’s degree preferred)
Ability to hire, mentor, manage performance of a team
Ability to independently conduct meetings with engineering-level, management-level or executive level customer personnel in regard to positioning sales and solutions
